How to find verified Buyers

8 min read

Reach serious GCC buyers through RFQs, a complete store, and signals that you are ready to quote — not through spam.

Suppliers often ask how to “find buyers” as if the directory were a phone book of companies to cold-call. On STUS, serious demand usually arrives as an RFQ from a buyer who already filtered by category, country, and verification. Your job is to be findable and trustworthy when that search happens, and to respond in a way that earns the next order.

Be visible where buyers already search

Complete verification and keep it current. Buyers can restrict results to verified suppliers. If your badge is missing, you disappear from that filter even when your factory is excellent. Match categories to the goods you can actually ship. A buyer looking for packaging in the UAE will not open a profile tagged only as general trading. Publish products with the keywords a procurement officer uses, written naturally in the title and specs, not repeated twenty times.

Watch inbound RFQs in the supplier dashboard every working day. Speed matters. GCC buyers often send the same RFQ to several suppliers. The first complete quote sets the comparison table. A late, vague reply loses even if your price is better. If you cannot quote, decline quickly with a short reason. Silence is worse than a polite no.

Read the buyer’s profile before you quote

Open the buyer company details attached to the RFQ. Check country, company type, and whether the request matches your export capability. A restaurant group asking for weekly fresh deliveries is not the same as an importer asking for a container. Quote the buyer in front of you, not a generic template. Mention pack size, Incoterm, and validity dates so they can compare you fairly against others.

Do not harvest contacts and spam WhatsApp groups. That behaviour burns the channel and can violate platform rules. Verified buyers came to STUS to run a structured process. Meet them there. If they unlock your contact after a quote, continue on email with the RFQ number in the subject so both sides keep a record.

Attract better RFQs with a stronger public store

Featured listings and a complete catalog increase the chance that a browsing buyer shortlists you before they issue an RFQ. Keep response-rate and trust signals healthy by answering on time. Some buyers look at those metrics the way they look at on-time delivery. A store that never replies looks high-risk even if the factory is certified.

You can also work backwards from categories in the public directory. See which verified suppliers already win attention in your niche, then close gaps in certificates, photos, and MOQ clarity. Finding buyers is less about hunting names and more about occupying the search result they already trust. Do that consistently and RFQs compound. Skip it and you will keep asking where the buyers went, while they are busy quoting someone who showed up complete.

The shortest path to verified buyers is a verified store, honest listings, and same-day quotes. Everything else is decoration.

Study the RFQs you win and the ones you lose. Winning files usually have a clear spec and a buyer who already understands your category. Losing files often show a mismatch you could have prevented with a better category or a clearer MOQ on the listing. Use that pattern to adjust the store rather than blaming “the algorithm.”

Build a small list of ideal buyer types: importer, retailer, industrial end user, government contractor. Write one paragraph for how you serve each. When an RFQ arrives, you will quote faster because you already know which pack and which Incoterm you offer that type. Speed plus fit is how verified buyers remember you.

Do not confuse a high volume of tyre-kicker messages with demand. Verified buyers on a structured platform tend to send fewer, better RFQs. Measure quality by comparable quotes and follow-up rounds, not by inbox size. If you chase every vague “send price list,” you will have no time for the buyer who attached a real specification.

Stay present. Log in on the days you claim to export. A verified buyer who sees last-seen months ago will pick a supplier who looks awake. Finding buyers is partly reputation, and reputation on a marketplace is mostly responsiveness plus a store that still matches reality.

If your plan includes buyer-directory access, use it the same way you would use a trade-show list: research first, then a relevant introduction tied to a live SKU. A message that says “we do everything” is ignored. A message that points to one matching product and a realistic MOQ is readable. Finding verified buyers is still a targeting problem. The platform only gathers them. You still have to sound like you read their request.

Protect your team’s time with a simple RFQ intake rule: if the request names a spec you publish, quote the same day; if it is a general catalogue request with no volume, send a short pack list and a link to three live products. Verified buyers respect a structured reply. Scattershot PDFs of everything you ever made do not look generous. They look unfocused.
